Audi S5 Cabriolet

Audi S5 Cabriolet (2012)
The top models in the series - the S5 as Sportback, Coupe and Cabriolet - have also been refreshed. All S5 models, including the Coupé, are now equipped with the 3.0 TFSI producing 245 kW (333 hp). Compared to the 4.2-liter V8 it replaces in the Coupé, the supercharged V6 consumes on average 20 percent less fuel per 100 kilometers. Average fuel consumption is just 8.1 liters (29.04 US mpg) while performance remains impressive. The S5 Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 4.9 seconds on its way to an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph).

Engines
The Audi A5 family sets new standards for sportiness and efficiency. All engines feature forced induction and direct injection for tremendous pulling power. Even the entry-level engine produces 320 Nm (236.02 lb-ft) of torque. The start-stop system and the recuperation system are standard with all engines - no other manufacturer takes such a rigorous approach. The lineup comprises three gasoline engines and four TDI units. CO2 emissions have been reduced by as much as 22 percent. The completely redesigned 1.8 TFSI showcases the full extent of Audi's expertise. Groundbreaking innovations can be found in the control of the valves and their lift, the thermal management concept, the injection system, the turbocharger and the integration of the exhaust manifold. In the Audi A5 Coupé, the high-end four-cylinder unit consumes on average just 5.7 liters of fuel per 100 km (41.27 US mpg). This best-in-class value corresponds to 134 grams CO2 per km (215.65 g/mile) and is 21 percent lower than before. With 125 kW (170 hp), the 1.8 TFSI accelerates the A5 powerfully. The output of the 2.0 TFSI remains unchanged at 155 kW (211 hp). New to the Audi A5 lineup is the 3.0 TFSI, a supercharged V6 producing 200 kW (272 hp). The diesel engines are also impressively efficient, and the four-cylinder units feature modifications in numerous areas. Equipped with the 130 kW (177 hp) 2.0 TDI and a manual transmission, the Audi A5 Coupé consumes on average just 4.7 liters of fuel per 100 km (50.05 US mpg) - a CO2 equivalent of 122 g per km (196.34 g/mile) and a milestone in the coupe segment.

Three V6 diesel units round out the lineup on the top end. The 3.0 TDI with 150 kW (204 hp) is the most fuel-efficient six-cylinder unit in its class worldwide. In the Audi A5 Coupé with multitronic, it consumes on average 4.9 liters (48 US mpg) of fuel and emits just 129 grams CO2 per km (207.61 g/mile). The second variant of the 3.0 TDI produces 180 kW (245 hp). Arriving somewhat later is a particularly low-emissions clean diesel model that will make the Audi A5 the first coupe on the market to meet the Euro 6 diesel standard. source : netcarshow.com

Audi RS7

Audi is set to take the fight to the recently unveiled BMW M6 GranCoup with a new 552bhp twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8-powered RS7 Sportback.

Pictured here officially for the first time following its unveiling at the Detroit motor show today, the rapid liftback extends Audi's RS line-up to six models.

Power for the RS7 Sportback comes from the same 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine used by the recently unveiled third-generation RS6 Avant. It produces 552bhp at 5700rpm and 76.45kgm of torque between 1750rpm and 5500rpm - some 138bhp and 20.46kgm more than the less highly tuned version of the same V8 in the S7 Sportback.

The new M6 GranCoup's twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 produces the same 552bhp. However, it offers 7.18kgm less.

Because Audi's seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is unable to handle the heady torque loading of the engine, the RS7 Sportback receives a standard eight-speed automatic box. It operates in combination with the latest evolution of the Audi's Quattro four-wheel drive system, offering the choice between D (drive), S (sport) and M (manual) modes.

Audi is yet to confirm a kerb weight for its latest RS model but claims it delivers 0-100kph in 3.9sec and a top speed limited to 250kph. Buyers can raise the top speed to 280kph with an optional Dynamic package and to 305kph with a Dynamic Plus package.

Underpinning the RS7 Sportback is a heavily reworked version of the standard A7 Sportback's chassis that features widened tracks and air suspension. Audi will also offer its new performance model with an optional steel-sprung suspension in combination with Dynamic Ride Control as part of a package known as Sport Suspension Plus a move that is reflected on the new RS6 Avant.

Audi Expands A5 Range with 134HP and 161HP TDIe Diesel Engines in Europe

These days, downsizing doesn't occur only to engine displacement but also to engine outputs. Case in point, the introduction of two new entry-level diesel engines for Audi's A5 Sportback and A5 Coupe models.
The new 136PS (134bhp) and 163PS (161bhp) 2.0-liter TDIe diesels will be offered in parallel to the existing 143PS (141bhp) and 177PS (175bhp) 2.0-liter TDI units, the difference being that the 'e' engines are less powerful but more fuel-efficient.
The 2.0-litre TDIe 163PS is available on both the A5 models, linked exclusively to six-speed manual transmission.

Merc SLS Roadster, new M-class, Concept A-class displayed at Expo

Mercedes-Benz took up all of Hall 15 and presented a vast array of cars for the Indian car buying public to gawk at.

Among the production models dished up were the SLS AMG roadster supercar the new, third-generation M-class and a customised S600 Pullman Guard. The star of the pavilion however was the Concept A-class a hatchback that previews the forthcoming design direction the brand is going to take. Built on the same MFA platform as the B-class that will soon be launched in India, the Concept A-class is likely to be sold in India in saloon form. And a swanky saloon it will be.

The car that attracted the most eyeballs, however, was the SLS AMG roadster. The SLS AMG coupe is famous for its gull-wing doors, so its good that the roadster version hasnt lost too much of the charm in having ditched them. The powertrain remains the same a 562bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine paired with a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission - and gets the soft-top roadster to 100kph in 3.8 seconds.

The new M-class improves on the previous version in almost every area, especially in size. Despite this, there are a number of technological improvements to keep emissions and fuel consumption in check. The ML has been introduced with a 3.0-litre diesel V6 that produces 255bhp and 63.2kgm. The styling is less aggressive, but more mature than before with softer edges and more chrome accents on the exterior.

The S600 Pullman Guard armoured limousine was on display as well. The gargantuan V12 limo is about as luxurious as a Mercedes can get, but it is also as tough as a tank, achieving VR6 and VR7 safety ratings the highest currently possible.

Mercedes-Benz also filled the large display hall with various other cars from its current range, like the SLK roadster and CLS four-door coupe, as well as racing cars like the C-class DTM car and the SLS GT3 touring car.

Peugeot to unveil future models

Peugeot 908 LMP1 Le Mans car
Feast your eyes on the 2011 championship-winning Peugeot 908 LMP1 Le Mans car. The blindingly quick Le Mans prototype weighs approximately 925kg and develops 550bhp from its 3.7-litre V8 diesel unit. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 908 grabbed three of the top four spots, coming second only to the Audi R18.
Alongside the Le Mans racer will be Peugeots first car for India the 508. This will be the French carmakers flagship model in India and Peugeot realises the importance of having a diesel variant, so the first engine will be a 1.6-litre diesel developing 112bhp. It will be interesting to see how Peugeot prices the 508, which needs to cost less than a Honda Accord to succeed in India. Styling-wise, Peugeots designs should abide well with Indian tastes compared to the quirky styling of its French counterpart, Renault. Peugeot will also display the RCZ sportscar at the Expo.

Is Peugeot ready for its second innings in India? Its Rs 4,000 crore investment in Gujarat surely suggests so.

Audi Q3 to be revealed at the Expo

Come January 2012, Audi will cater to every type of visitor with its wide range of models at the Auto Expo. At one end is theQ3, the affordable compact SUV, while at the other is the camera-magnet R8 Spyder.
This will be the Q3s Indian debut and it will first be launched in mid-2012 with Audis Quattro four-wheel-drive system. Two engines will be offered, a 2.0-litre TFSI turbo-petrol developing 211bhp and an entry-level 176bhp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel which should form the bulk of sales in India.
The brutish RS5 and the 5.2-litre V10 R8 Spyder will turn up the heat at the Audi stand so make sure you have your cameras ready. Theres even something for performance-seekers for whom a rakish coupe is grossly impractical  the new S6. It has a 414bhp, 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 under the hood and is capable of hitting 100kph in less than five seconds. Whats disappointing, though, is that the facelifted A4 wont make it to the show even though its launch is expected in the first quarter of 2012.
Green credentials are a must these days, so balancing out the masses of horsepower on display will be the A3 E-Tron concept. The sleek and sexy plug-in hybrid has a 211bhp 1.4-litre TFSI motor coupled with a 27bhp electric motor. Audis served as a buffet then, pick your dish.

Audi to set up customer driving experience

Like the Mercedes driving academy, the base for Audis activities will be the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida where customers will get an opportunity to drive Audis entire range of performance offerings right up to the R8 supercar under the supervision of trained instructors.
Instructor roles have been given to former competition drivers Gaurav Dalal, Rohitaaz Kumar, Prithveen Rajan and Scirocco Cup ace Aditya Patel after a recently-concluded testing session at a facility on the outskirts of Chennai. Conducted by Audi Germany, the shootout also saw F2 driver Armaan Ebrahim, Polo Cup 2011 vice-champion Oshan Kothadiya and front-runners Avdumber Hede and Munjal Savla also in contention for the same role.
However, we have been given to understand that outright speed was not the topmost criteria for selection experience, availability, communication and interpersonal skills being a factor as well. Only fair since the instructors will be expected to help typical Audi customers get up to speed quickly and improve their car control, enabling them to push high-performance machinery closer to its limits. However, the instructor shootout itself was conducted using A4 and A6 sedans.
Audi plans to run this programme for up to 30 days a year and after VW, Mercedes, Toyota and Caterham joins the list of manufacturers choosing their motorsport and performance lineage to promote itself in India. A more focussed foray into Indian Motorsport is also on the horizon as Audi is planning to run the one-make S4 Cup on the lines of the VW Polo Cup.Being the performance variant of the A4, it would be a perfect billboard to showcase Audis high-tech performance pedigree. With the Toyota Etios Cup already confirmed for 2012 the young Indian racer has never had it better!

Audi Avus Quattro

The Audi Avus quattro is a sports car from the German car manufacturer Audi. It was first introduced at the 1991 Tokyo Motor Show. The Avus quattro had an aluminum exterior, which made it a lightweight, sleek and safer automobile. The Avus quattro's engine was supposed to be a 6.0 L 60-valve 12-cylinder engine producing 509 PS (374 kW; 502 hp), capable of accelerating the car from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in about 3 seconds and a top speed of 259 mph (417 km/h). The exact car shown at the Tokyo Motor Show, however, had a dummy made of carefully painted wood and plastic for an engine because at the time, such a powertrain was still in development; Audi-made W12 engines were not available to buyers until Audi presented its flagship A8 a few years later. The Avus quattro is now on display at Audi's museum in Ingolstadt, Germany.

Updated Audi A4 breaks cover
Audi has revealed a face-lifted version of its A4 saloon.
The updated A4 will be a key rival to the recently revealed, sixth-generation BMW 3-series and the recently-updated Mercedes-Benz C-class. At the rear, there are new tail lamps with altered LED graphics and a new bumper.

This is achieved through a new steering wheel design, higher quality dashboard and centre console trim applications, detailed design changes to the switchgear( something Autocar India had often been critical of) and alterations to the optional MMI (multi-media interface).  Engine options will be carried over from the current car and you can expect
the updated A4 to reach our shores in early 2012
