Top 10 Super Cars Of All Time

While most of the people reading this will most likely not ever own, let alone drive a super-car (we can dream) it is always fun to see what is new to the world of the best of the best. In this day, and age, car technology is moving faster than ever, and super cars are using all of this knowledge and technology, to make to kick @#!*% cars.

10. Ferrari 458

Ah, one of the greatest super cars that has ever been made. The all too famous 458, with a 4.5 L engine that pumps out an impressing 562 hp. That is not the only thing that makes this car impressive, as a successor to the F430, Ferrari had to make this one of their fastest cars to date, so they did the only reasonable thing an auto-maker would do, stuff nearly 60 years of F1 racing technology in a car that you could buy off the show room floor. After stepping behind the wheel, you can tell that all of those years have paid off, with an F1 inspired engine, and GT1 handling, its one of the most impressive Ferrari's ever made.

9. Ford GT

Fellow BBC Top Gear watchers know that Jeremy Clarkson hates American cars, A lot. But the Ford GT must have been an exception. Clarkson loved the Ford GT so much when he drove it in America, which he had to have one of the 20 that were going to the UK. So what made this American car so good, that even the Europeans admitted that it was a great car. After all, the engine was the same as the one in the Ford lightning (although it was hand-made and included a supercharger) One of them, was probably the epic styling that was nearly identical to the GT40 predecessor Aside the impressive looks, in 2004, this was actually the fastest car in the world, faster 0-60 times than all of the Ferrari's and Lamborghini at the Time. Impressive, for a ford.

8. Bugatti Veyron

If cars where a lot like humans, this car would demand a lot of respect. With title under its belt like "Car of the Decade" you know that this car is anything but the ordinary, and that starts with the price, the starting price for a 2010 Bugatti Veyron will set you back about 1.5 million dollars. If you decide to drain your bank account and buy one of the 302 Bugattis that have been built, you now have four turbo chargers, feeding into a 64 valve, 12 cylinder engine that produces 1001 horsepower, in other terms, this car wants to kill you.

7. Ariel Atom

First thing first, this car only has around 300 hp that comes from a Honda V-tech engine, And it costs around $55,000, which might seem pricey, considering that you will only drive it on the weekends, but its the only car under 100k, (GTR exempt  that will reach 60mph in under 2.8 seconds! For the fans of Top Gear, you know that this car has been holding the top spot on the leader board for over two years, there is simply nothing faster you can buy, not to mention you could buy 30 of these things for the price of a Bugatti Veyron.

6. Lamborghini Diablo

Diablo, meaning "devil" is pretty much just that. With it being the first Lamborghini to reach 200 mph, it lived up to that name pretty well. While most people think that if the car is Italian it was designed by only Italians right? Well, in this case, most of the Diablo was designed by our boys in Detroit, surprising considering all of the downright ugly American cars of the 80's and 90's. Aside the design, the Diablo is powered by a 48-valve V-8 that produces 493 horsepower, extremely impressive for a car in the 90's. Over all, this iconic design, and an engine head of its time, made this an instant classic among super car lovers and 12-year olds across the globe.

 5. SRT Viper

If did not already make this clear, this is not a list for the faint of heart, and this car is here to prove it, with 400 horsepower and 450 lb, this car is pretty extreme for a car without anti-lock brakes or traction control, I admit, this car is about as impractical as it gets, no air bags, traction control? Nope, Anti-Lock brakes? Nope, power steering? Well, yes! But even after all of that, this is still a great car, and if all of those things do not matter to you, (and getting about 10mpg) this might be the car for you, fast, fun, and crazy!

4. Ferrari F40

After Porsche created the once, fastest car in the world 959, Ferrari simply could not have the smaller, less powerful brand steal the title, so Ferrari did the only thing they could of, build a more powerful, quicker, lighter, and more bad @#!*% car than Porsche very could imagine. With a 478 hp engine that launched the car from 0-60 in less than four seconds, but, this car was about the corner and with an super aero-dynamic body, it really blew the world out of the water, because at the time, its 201 mph top speed (that 201 mph was really just a way to say "take that Porsche") was the first production car to ever reach that speed. A super-car to remember indeed.

3. Porsche Carrera GT

This was one of those cars, that really never should have existed, the 5.7 Lt engine that Porsche used was actually suppose to be in the 1998 GT1 Lemons race car, but Porsche needed to shelve the engine for the design on a up-coming Porsche SUV (later to be named the Cayenne) in 2000, for the Paris Auto Show, Porsche decided to make a concept to attract attention to their display, although they never intended on making the car, the response from the press was so large that they decided to make the car anyway. A total of 1,270 Carrera GT's were made. Although this cars life was short lived, it showed what Porsche was capable of doing when given the right tools.

2. Nissan GTR

This car re-wrote the rules for the super-car league; the black edition GTR does 0-60 in less than 2.7 seconds! That makes it the fastest accelerating car on this list, and, it is also the most inexpensive car on the list. How did Nissan make such an awesome car at such a realistic price? well it all lies in the advanced all-wheel drive system that makes the most of the cars power, which comes from a twin turbo charged V6 that produces around 560 horsepower, how the managed to get that much power out of a V6, we might never know. While the GTR is a rather heavy car, it beats the Ferrari 458 around most tracks easily when the CEO Ferrari asked why the GTR was so fast around the track, he was given a simple answer, and the GTR is an easy car to drive, plain and simple as that. So if you find yourself with a spare $95,000 in your pocket, you should probably go check out your local Nissan dealer.

1. Lamborghini Aventador

Revealed in Paris, in early 2011, the Aventador has been a success in super-car terms, with one of the most impressive 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds, and a top speed of 217mph. But that's not the most impressive part about the Lamborghini; its the amazing style that catches most people eyes. But there are a few problems with this super-car, first off, the ride is terrible but one of the biggest problems is that is does not inspire confidence in the driver. So what did Lamborghini do? The head director of engineering bought a Ferrari 458, and he told them to make a car that drives better, and faster than the Ferrari.

Jaguar C-X75 Gets Axe

The Jaguar C-X75 supercar has been axed. Global brand director Adrian Hallmark confirmed that the decision not to put the radical hybrid into production had been taken due to the current global economic crisis.

Five working prototypes will continue to be developed until next May. Up to three of these will then be sold at auction, while one will go into a future Jaguar museum and the other will be kept by Jaguar for running demonstrations.

"We feel we could make the car work, but looking at the global austerity measures in place now, it seems the wrong time to launch an 800,000 to 1 million supercar," said Hallmark. "This is backed up by other products from us that people are screaming out for."

The C-X75 was first revealed as a concept at the Paris motor show in 2010. Its hybrid drivetrain included a pair of gas turbines to power the car once charge from the four electric motors, one mounted at each wheel, had expired.

In May 2011 Jaguar confirmed the C-X75, which features the firm's first bonded carbonfibre chassis using Williams F1 expertise, had been signed off for production, albeit without the gas turbines.
The original drivetrain had been replaced with a turbocharged/supercharged 1.6-litre petrol engine and two electric motors, mounted at either end of the car, driving transaxles and powered by a liquid/air-cooled battery pack.

The combined power figure of the hybrid drivetrain was 888bhp and combined torque 590lb ft. The C-X75 could crack 0-60mph in 2.8sec and promised 0-100mph in less than 6.0sec. An all-electric range of 60 miles was quoted.

Hallmark said the undisclosed investment in the C-X75 would not be wasted, and 60 per cent of its technology would filter through to future Jaguars. The hybrid technology, he said, could be used on a three-cylinder engine to give it the power of a six-cylinder engine.

The C-X75's sophisticated aerodynamics should also influence future Jaguars, while the high-pressure supercharger technology could be used on future performance Jaguars with four-cylinder engines.

  • Beauty and elegance ex works
  • Sportiness and individuality from HAMANN-Motorsport
Even the standard BMW 6-series Gran Coup' is amongst the most elegant luxury cars. Noble lines and bewitching proportions make the Coup' known at BMW as the F06 one of most attractive cars ever to roll off the production lines at BMW. So it was no mean feat for the designers at HAMANN-Motorsport to give the vehicle more glamour, and just the right amount of sportiness and individuality. But with their feel for shape and more than 25 years of experience in customising luxury cars, the specialists from the southern German town of Laupheim have managed to pull together a comprehensive customisation package ' striking alloy wheels, a stylish aerodynamic profile as well as a gnarly sounding sports exhaust are just a few highlights from the extensive HAMANN range.

The aerodynamic components alone show HAMANNs feel for clever customisation of the Gran Coup'. The newly designed front continues the BMW design language and supplies an extra dose of sportiness. HAMANN have replaced the standard components with a front grille with two integrated LED day lights, a new front bumper and a lighter carbon bonnet. To customise the rear, HAMANN have fitted a lift reducing Spoiler, a tailgate cover and a new bumper with an integrated diffuser to take the HAMANN 4-sports-pipe mufflers. The discreet side skirts tie the front and rear together visually and reduce the airflow between the axles.

The range of wheels available is geared completely towards the customer for the 6 series. Whether strikingly sporty or elegant and classy, HAMANN offers various wheel styles and sizes. Under the name ANNIVERSARY EVO HYPER BLACK, a monoblock 21 inch alloy wheel is available. The History Of The Mini Cooper

I would like to state before you read this article, the large amount of time, and research that has gone into this article. I would like to thank everybody that reads my articles every day. I have grown from my first month in December to just 412 for the month, to nearly 1,500 people a day. Thanks for the amazing growth  and I aperiate all of the great people that make this happen.

Part of the Teen Car Guys new series include going over the history of cars that have been around for quite some time. mainly cars that have a confusing history, with many models, and often sold under two or more brands. So for my first car history lesson, I would like to explain the history of one of the most influential cars of all time, which sold under the same body style with little face lifts for over 50 years.

In this case, a very long time. When the Mini first came to British show-rooms in 1958 under the British Motor company which sold the Mini for nine years  (1959-1968) after they enjoyed the success of the 60's they sold the brand to British Leyland, which sold the Mini under its brand for 18 years (1968-1986) After they sold under them, Mini went on to be distributed under the Rover Group, which sold the Mini name up until the 2000 model year.

While under these brands the Mini was sold under these names.

Austin 850
Austin Partner
Austin MiniAustin
SevenLeyland
MiniMorris 850
Morris Mascot
Morris Mini
Riley Elf
Rover Mini
Wolseley 1000
Wolseley Hornet

The idea for the car came in 1955 when Leonard Lord wanted to make a proper small car, he wanted to "rid the streets of terrible bubble cars" and Lord did just that. He decided that the Mini should use an engine that was already in use for cost reasons  They ended up using the BMC A-Series four-cylinder, water cooled engine. Which only produced *around* 34 bph, but the super light frame meant it quick on its feet. In fact, on the track, it was faster than most V8s of the day boasting up four times as much horsepower.

The design of this car was, without a doubt  one of the most inspiring to other auto-makers at the time. The Mini dementions are 1044 feet, quite small for a car, yet the car could hold four passengers comfrontly, and all of there gear rather easily, another draw-back of small cars of the time (and now) are the small roofs, but the Mini had to be designed to be easy to drive with a helmet on for rally races, so if you are 6.2ft its not a problem if you are considering about buying a classic Mini. With the engine placed sideways (like a boxer engine) it created maximum room for the driver and passenger legroom, and it also left more room for trunk space.

Mini Cooper S

In 1963, the Mini Cooper S was released  with the "S" standing for a twisting road (not supercharger) The performance went from 34 to 55 bph. The car featured a racing-tuned engine, twin SU carburettors, a closer-ratio gearbox and front disc brakes, uncommon at the time in a small car. One thousand units of this version were commissioned by management,(source: Wikipedia.org/Mini)They also upgraded the engine size to 1071 cc. But during all of the power changes, the car stayed around the same weight  which made it deadly on rally races. Due to these changes, The Mini Cooper S won the 1964, 1965, and 1967 Monte Carlo rally. The series was discontinued in 1971 after eight years of production.

Safty

Issigonis, was once asked about the crash worthiness of the Mini, and he said "I make my cars with such good brakes, such good steering, that if people get into a crash its their own fault" He also added " I don't design my cars to have accendents"
In July 1965 one of the strangest things done to make a car safer was done to the Mini. The gap between the door handle and the panel would be closed, which kept the door handle from damaging anything, or pushing the door into the passenger area. In the 1968, the Mini was pulled from the US due to the intense safety regulations, and emissions standards. Although it stayed in production in Canada until 1979
1974 might have been the biggest year for the Mini in safety terms, which featured a longer crumble zone, strengthened door stills, extra internal padding, and resesed door handles.

Mini Clubman

In 1969, Mini was given a face lift, the restyled version was called the Clubman, which was slightly longer than the Cooper, had featured a square look. Although they were better equipped  and also featured better crash testing ratings, the aerodynamics where below that of the 1950's model, and most people could agree that it was not the best looking thing in the world (In there defense was that is was designed by an American that worked a Ford) with that it was discontinued in 1980.

Mini Moke

This was actually a utility vehicle for the British army. Although it could clime a 1:2 gradient  it did not have enough ground clearance to be put in service.  They did not use it in the Army, but it was a big hit with civilian markets, selling 50,000 units after the end of its four year life.

Mini Pick-up

While this is not your average pick-up, it enjoyed success in the UK while it was in production. It is one of the lightest trucks ever made, clocking in at just 1,500lbs. For cost reasons, the Pick up did not have a chrome grill, just a stamped vents for air-flow into the engine  A engine and four wheels was about all that  you got in this small package, put was popular do to its inexpensive price.

Mini van

A commercial van that shared the same platform as the Austin Mini Countryman. This van was designed for business use, so inexpensive was a key part in its success. With the same striped out look of the Pick-up, with out a chrome gill, or even sun visors. But even without the basic needs of a automobile, the public loved it. With a large back window for advertising, and cheap operation costs, it was a great choice for a company car at the time.

Although there are more models that came out under the Mini name, these were the most popular, and main reasons for the success of the Mini over the years. Selling over 1,581,887 in Britain alone. During the years, the Mini has won many awards, Including the
"Car of the Century" (Autocar magazine 1995)
"European Car of the Century" (worldwide poll 1999)
And Mini even ran up in 2nd place behind the Model T in the "Global Car of the Century"

The New Mini

In 1995, Mini almost shut-down forever, due to more regulated safety regulations. And lost of interest in the classic design  and more gravating towards the modern look. With these challenges ahead, Mini had to make some serous changes, but BMC did not have the money to invest in a complete Mini resign. BMW knew that Mini did not have not money to design a modern car. In 1995, BMW bought the rights to sell the Mini under its ownership. In 2001, the Mini hardtop was released in North America, and became an instant success. Although it did not sell in the mass numbers the original Mini did, It had a truly impressive launch, gaining a impressive hold on the small car market.

BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition 2013

BMW Motorsport returned to the DTM this year with a bang, after almost 20 years away from the series. Canadian driver Bruno Spengler won the drivers' title, BMW Team Schnitzer topped the team standings, and BMW claimed the manufacturers' honours. And to celebrate the stylish comeback, BMW M GmbH is unveiling this M3 DTM Champion Edition.

Mimicking the looks of Spengler's race car, this special-edition model is available exclusively in Frozen Black metallic, while the carbon flaps and gurney, various dark chrome elements, matte black wheels and sections of the race car's livery also hint at the BMW M3 DTM.

The theme is continued by the M stripe design over the CFRP roof and boot lid, M logo to the rear of the front wheel arches and decals on the rear side windows.

Inside, the door sill strips replicate Spengler's helmet design and the carbon-fibre interior trim strip bears the newly crowned champ's signature and the car's serial number. The DTM Champion Edition also gets goodies like an Alcantara steering wheel, handbrake lever embroidered with 'M Power' lettering, and extended black Novillo leather trim with features in contrasting Palladium Silver.

As the ultimate M3, it also comes with the division's Competition package, M Drive, M DCT Drivelogic and the M Driver's Package.

There's more. The car's 54 lucky owners will have the chance to attend the BMW M Fascination Nordschleife driver training course under the watchful eye of Bruno Spengler himself! Held on the N'rburgring's legendary Nordschleife track, it's one of the most coveted elements of the BMW Driving Experience programme.

German pricing for the BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition starts from '99,000 (RM393,393) including VAT.

Best Classic Cars Under 10k

Cars shows are a great way to find Classic Cars for sale.

This might just be one of the best lists I will ever do on this blog. There is no other feeling than driving down the road with a big block V8 rumble in the background and cool breeze in your face. And before the internet, many people could not enjoy this feeling, because finding a good deal on a classic car was hard, it involved going too many car shows and looking for beat up cars on the side of the road. But now it is easier than ever. With site like Craigslist, and eBay, it is super easy to find a awesome classic car that fits your budget. So list will include the easiest to find, and coolest cars on the classic car market right now.

10. 1969 Mercury Cougar

The 69 Model year was most likely the best looking model they made, right before the large restrictions in the 70's that held auto-makers from making even remotely good looking cars. But this car was saved from the ugly bumpers and strange headlights, this car was one of there best looking cars of all time, and best part is, is that is looks like a Dodge Charger, which sells for around $150,000 these days. So good looking, big V8, and sweet taillights? This car might just be your next.

9. Plymouth Satelite

What is there to say about this car? Its looks like no other car on the road, and it has a monster V8 in it. Whats not to love? Not to mention most of them are in green to make that funky factor just a little bit higher.

8.1964-1970 Ford Mustang

You knew this car was going to be on the list. And for some good reasons to. For starters, they are pretty inexpensive a good one might sell for around 9 grand, while a full body restoration sells for around 25 grand. But the best part is, is that they are super easy to find, just check out the local listings on the web, and you well sell tons of results. Old school big block V8's are a must, and convertibles are icing on the cake.

7. 1962 Thunderbird

One of the best looking cars on the list, and one of the coolest to. with those low to the ground headlights, and a bright red interior. This is just about as retro as you can get. Another plus? Lots of them have been fitted with C5 transmission, which calls for one fast shifting cruiser.

6. 1976 Plymouth Duster

There are two things that are great about this car, light weight, and huge engine, two ingredients to make a great muscle car. Most of them come with 428 V8s, which are used in Corvettes. Fast n loud, yes indeed.

5. 1969 Chevy Camaro

Nothing says classic better than an old Chevy, just so happens that the first Camaro they ever made, turned out to be, in my opinion, the best one they made. So go head, make your friends envy your classic ride.

4. Rat rod

while there are many cars that have been tuned into rat rods, they all share the same name, but they are so many ways to build one, you can be sure that you can find one that fits your bad- @#!*% needs.

3. Austin Mini

For some of the people that are looking for a car on the list that is meant to go fast when the going get bendy. Everything about this car is designed for fun. from the super light frame, to the super precise steering. And if you're lucky, you can find a modified Honda V-Tech engine fitted into one.

2. MG Spitfire

Yep, had to put just one more British car on here, the MG spitfire is a lot like Mini, fast, fun, and not a car that you see every day, even at car shows.

1. VW Beetle

What kind of list would this be without the famous VW beetle. Its not the fastest car on the road. Neither is it the best looking, but what you do get is a piece of history that stared the trend of inexpensive fun to drive cars.
