Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the new SLK in India on August 10th. The SLK made its global debut at the manufacturer�s 125th birthday celebrations in Stuttgart in January this year.
The new SLK continues to eschew a fabric roof for a reworked version of the old model�s folding hard-top. It now offers the choice of either standard aluminum, fixed-tint glass or electro-magnetic variable-tint glass panel.
Inside, there�s an angular new dashboard, modeled on that of the SLS, with distinctive vents, reworked instruments, more contemporary switchgear and a new range of trims.
The 2011 SLK has a new rear-wheel drive platform. Mercedes will launch the SLK 350 in India, which features Mercedes� new V6. The 3.5-litre direct-injection motor kicks out 306bhp and is paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox. It offers vastly improved performance and economy.
The SLK competes with the likes of the BMW Z4 and the Porsche Cayman/Boxster and the Audi TT and will be available at an estimated ex-showroom price of Rs 65 lakh.
